What other supporter groups are doing

Postby gaffer » Wed Jan 09, 2008 3:48 pm

I am have found a really good site that has some good information about what other mls fans are doing the site is http://mlsunderground.blogspot.com/ . Some of the interesting reports are on the Red Patch Girls calender(maybe an RCB girls calender for 2009?) and a interview with the head of New England's Midnight Riders.

Anyone else have any ideas we could take from other groups around MLS or the world?

We could start by getting along and not acting like we are in middle school. Maybe being more supportive of each other and embracing our differences rather than exploiting them for some kind of imagined power because we didn't make the team in high school.

How about doing away with the us and them infrastructure so that ALL members, new and old feel like equals and feel like they are welcomed. In all other walks of life the board of directors generally consists of individuals without a direct interest in the business, group, etc, (to avoid conflicts of interest) and really quite frankly 9 members (or however many there are) for a group this size is ridiculous and pathetic.

How about going out of our way somehow to really welcome new members and let them know how much we love having them join our big dysfunctional family.

The RCB will be nothing more than the joke it currently is without making some drastic changes both in leadership and philosophy. I have no doubt that it's full potential could be reached ( 1-2 THOUSAND by the end of the 09 season) if some key changes are made.

Other than that I don't have a clue. See you all in the lot!!

XOXO

Colin

I was being hopeful.

Colin I really want the group to grow. I think treating new people well is something this group has done in the past. Hell, I would not be a member if not for how welcome judge made me feel the first time I sat in E38. Come march I am planning to be another welcoming face to help the group grow and expand.

I could round up a few and make them "honorary" RCB members

I think that's a cool idea...but one that would need working on over the year for sure...Maybe do a fan calender as well. One with shots of action on the pitch as well as in the stands.

Calendar is a brilliant idea.

It is not my place, but if it were me I would approach the Salt City Roller Derby Girls to model if you wanted to go the "Women of..." route. It is my experience that derby chicks are totally into being photographed, so put them in RCB gear and, *boom*, you have a calendar. The only SLC photog I know is a fetish photographer, but I bet he could do a great calendar for you.

Talk to The Slippery Kittens Burlesque troupe...

Most of them hang out at the Republican and Bar Deluxe...

"By expanding our Supporters Seating, we recognized the growing, passionate support that you'd expect from fans of the Chicago Fire," said Fire President/GM John Guppy. "We hope that in time, TOYOTA PARK will be filled to the brim with the same energetic, die-hard fan base we've come to expect from 'Section 8'."

Nice to see my friend Peter getting some love here. Any of you who watched the Fire/San Jose match on FSC this weekend saw him get about 5 minutes of love from the cameraman and the commentators. Class, quality guy who represents everything good about American soccer that the MLS admins don't get...like Pastorino too.

Troubles continue in Columbus this time with a added side of West Ham.

One of the benefits of hanging around a group of soccer supporters is that your taste in beer goes up a lot. It’s like “Sideways” with more swearing. But we digress.
