Nice score guys. Have fun, and be smart and safe. Not sure if either of you have been before, here is some unsolicited advice.
Where are your seats? You will have the most fun if they are in the Bobby Moore lowers, and barring that the upper. You might be able to find someone to swap tix with you in one of the pubs the day before or morning of the match. Make sure you visit the Boleyn pub for the sake of tradition, but no need to make that your base of operations. Please, please, please take pics of you guys at the champions statue across for the Boleyn, but be smart with anything but West Ham colors when taking a pic there on match day (not a really good place to get a pic with rcb scarves in other words).

When do you get there? There are a few awesome punk shows in London that week...not the least of them being Stiff Little Fingers.

Do you have locals to hook up with?

In my opinion, it is essential to any Upton Park pilgramage to take a picture like this old classic one: Image

I envy you guys. I'm not going to a match until December, and I think we should handle sunderland easily. Give us full reports.

Ska..Thanks for all the info!! It is MUCH appreciated.

I was hoping to get tickets in the Bobby Moore lowers...Only thing available was in the Centenary lower..next to the visiting supporters.
Area NL3 Row R Seat 115.

I have a friend who lives in West Ham, she moved over from Hamburg Germany. She might be coming along to the match if I can score another ticket.

I am in the London area October the 18th-21st. After that I am off to York. Scotland= Edinburgh, Inverness, Sterling, Glasgow. Northern Ireland= Belfast. Back to England, Liverpool. Over to Wales= Conwy. Back into England, Bath, Brighton, maybe Dover, and up to London for a few more days before I head home.
October 17th- November 15th.
If you have further suggestions please let me know. I have been around London and Cambridge before, but that is the extent of my travels in the UK.

I will make sure I post full reports and pics.

Thanks Ska. I didn't know Stiff Little Fingers were touring, I might have to see one of those shows.

And yes, Donk, yes you do.

Another tip I always give people...if you are going to go out drinking/clubbing, make sure you bring shoes that aren't mostly white trainers (sneakers, tennis shoes, whatever). Most cool places have a ban on these items to prevent fights, something most americans won't be used to or expecting.

I'll keep my ears a little more open than ususal for the LDN haps that weekend and let you guys know if anything cool is going on.

When possible, I think it is cool to try and squueze in a couple of matches in a weekend. Another premiership match might be too much, but Queens Park Rangers are at home on the 20th v. Ipswitch town (for personal reasons I am a closet QPR fan), You might want to spend some time in West London at Griffin Park (where Brentford play). This ground is awesome because it has a pub built in to each of the 4 corners. Good place to catch some of the televised matches on the 20th mebbe.

Don't be afraid to skip some of the more obvious London stuff (all the regular American tourist stuff, Camden market, etc) and spend more time in East London. The olympics will be there soon and already it is no longer the dangerous place for outsiders it once was (although you can still easily find yourself in trouble there). Bangers and mash, eels in green sauce, meat pies...all good stuff.

You can still get into training sessions too. Saville Road is what the grounds are called I think. I can't recall the exact hours they let the public in, but call the ticket office and they will tell you. If I remember right it is an easy bus ride from one of the bigger train stations (Romford or Chadwell Heath I think). I would bet money that Spector would love a couple of Americans getting loud about him in training.

If some other useful tips spring to mind I'll try to remember to post them.

Again Ska...Thanks for the info....has been very helpful!

Yeahh I have done all the tourist things in London..well most of all the major ones. This time around I plan to hit a few but mainly just hang with my friend and a bunch of locals. Last time I was in London was back in 05...Was heading back to Hamburg the day the bombs went off. Fortunately for myself the bombs went off when they did and not a day earlier or else I would have been right in the middle of it all. I was down in central London the day before when they announced the Olympic bid had been awarded to London...That was a fun and unexpected party to have stumbled across. I did return to London a few days after the bombings..It was quite strange to ride the tube in the middle of the day and have the car mostly to yourself.
Can't wait to get back to that great city!!

I will keep you all posted with pics and the like.

If you're going to Bath, Glastonbury isn't far. I thought it was worth the trip.

Have my trip all planned out....
Along with a West Ham match I will also be taking in a Charlton Athletic match, and might score a ticket to see Everton while I am in Liverpool...Sorry Denz..that other team is away the weekend I am there. Maybe I will swing by their stadium and snap a few pics for ya :)

Check out my site for all my trip details:

You know why the river Mercy runs through Liverpool right? If it walked it would be mugged.
