Dear God, the teams name...it's not that bad. I'm...in a state of shock.

I was expecting the Seattle Seamen or something to that effect.

Go Sounders! Used to go to watch them when I was at Ft. Lewis. Good times that was.

FECK YES for footy in Seattle!!! I've followed the Sounders for years and before I started following MLS, they had always been my favorite north american team. I'm way excited.

With this whole name thing I know they would like to keep it somewhat traditional however, the Sounders will play their last game in the USL in '08 and, from what it sounds like, they're going to let the fans choose the team name. Um.... yeah.... that's a no brainer. Hopefully they do something with the logo though. It's pretty fecking bad.

These were some of the designs they have been kicking around...As I understand it, they opted not to go with this firm, but some good ideas...I especially like the strong simplicity of the Emerald City FC design.

That last one is sorta hideous, but I like the first two.

This kit is fecking world class. Far better than anything in MLS today. Amazingly cool shield.... it's beauty is it's simplicity for sure.

I approve, aside from the fact that it has xbox on it. That's just unfortunate.

Microsoft man...... I think it's the most legit. Besides, it sounds and looks a hell of a lot cooler than Starbucks or Les Schwab Tires. haha

I love that Paul Allen is getting involved, having more billionaires into soccer in the US is a good thing. I love having 360 as their corporate sponsor, should lead to some great MLS giveaways.

I'm nervous for what will happen to RSL as a consequence of, and after, the expansion draft each of the next seasons, and especially the '09 one when there may be one more team joining the league.

My prediction is that Seattle makes the MLS Cup or wins the Supporters Shield their first season of play.

The expansion drafts scare me only if we end up with guys dropping off the Generation Adidas list, right now we can really protect a lot of players since the GA guys are not eligible for the draft. I am expecting us to not protect Andy, Esky, Talley, Chris Brown, and if I were San Jose I would take Esky despite the fairly high salary.

I do agree that Seattle will probably be a winner from the start, they sure will have the funding to put a solid team on the pitch, and seem to have a great group involved in the ownership. I am a bit concerned about them playing at qwest field, that is a big building and I have not heard anything about a soccer specific stadium for them (isn't that a league requirement?)

They are in the same position as the Revs with this. If the owner owns the stadium, MLS is fine with that because the soccer specific stadium is not about soccer, it's about controlling the revenue streams. Both Qwest and Gillette are owned by the team owners so they control the revenue.
