JUDGE DREDD wrote:I finally broke down and bought a PS3 last night. The new 80G with Metal Gear Solid 4.
I hooked it up to my 32" Panasonic LCD 720p TV and went through the setup. Once the game started my TV turned off. I had to unplug the TV to get it back on. I then switched out the HDMI cable to one that was not quite so high of a Gbps rating; I then was able to get a bit further into the actual game before the TV yet again turned off. After reseting I went through all the settings on my PS3 and made sure my TV was setup alright. I decided to give the RCA cables that come with the PS3 a go to see if maybe I had to go to an even lower Gbps HDMI cable for my 720p TV. I was able to play the game with the RCA cables for about 15 minutes and then yet again the TV turned off. Suspecting the TV now I fired up my DVD player and let that run for a good half hour with now problems, and then did the same thing with my PS2. I have a Rocketfish HDMI cable on my DVD player so I hooked that to the PS3 and had similar results; was able to get into the start menu of the game and the TV turned off.
I now think it's something to do with the PS3 after some online searches. So back to the store with this PS3 and I will attempt this all again.
