PS3

Postby JUDGE DREDD » Mon May 05, 2008 7:42 pm

So I figure I am finally going to break down and buy up a PS3 on June 14th(day after I get back from Europe) when the 80G comes back out, this time with the new Metal Gear game.

Anyone else out there have a PS3?

I am still waiting on more games and better online play, before I go down that road again. All I would use it for now would be movies.

As soon as Square-Enix releases Final Fantasy XIII I'll buy one. Because I sold them my soul., but I got a desktop box, power supply and a wireless mouse/controller in return.

I finally broke down and bought a PS3 last night. The new 80G with Metal Gear Solid 4.

I hooked it up to my 32" Panasonic LCD 720p TV and went through the setup. Once the game started my TV turned off. I had to unplug the TV to get it back on. I then switched out the HDMI cable to one that was not quite so high of a Gbps rating; I then was able to get a bit further into the actual game before the TV yet again turned off. After reseting I went through all the settings on my PS3 and made sure my TV was setup alright. I decided to give the RCA cables that come with the PS3 a go to see if maybe I had to go to an even lower Gbps HDMI cable for my 720p TV. I was able to play the game with the RCA cables for about 15 minutes and then yet again the TV turned off. Suspecting the TV now I fired up my DVD player and let that run for a good half hour with now problems, and then did the same thing with my PS2. I have a Rocketfish HDMI cable on my DVD player so I hooked that to the PS3 and had similar results; was able to get into the start menu of the game and the TV turned off.

I now think it's something to do with the PS3 after some online searches. So back to the store with this PS3 and I will attempt this all again.

OK, so between your issues and the fact that Sony had to pull their recent "software update" which was supposed to let the compete with xbox live, but it was "bricking" about 5-10% of PS3's.

I was actually considering getting one so I would have a BluRay player, but I think I am going to stick with my 360 for now. Mine has been running fine since I got it on launch day 2005.

I know they are two years plus from the next Xbox version launching, but I may simply wait until then for my next console.

yeah cause you can play GTA IV, Halo 3, FIFA 08, Madden 07, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and so many other games on it, oh wait
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17080&type=page&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0700000%23%230%23%2319r~~cabcat0712000%23%230%23%239t~~nf318%7C%7C4d6163&list=y&nrp=15&sc=gameToySP&sp=-bestsellingsort+skuid&usc=abcat0700000

There are a whole 3 games for the mac on the best buy site, Now to be fair there are about 50 games that are pc/mac available. Such great hits as "Barbie as Rapunzle", "plant tycoon", Dr. Daisy", but at least they do have World of Warcraft.

That blows away the 250 plus 360 games, not to mention the 300 plus old xbox games you can play on the 360.

I have to admit you make a great point about the greatness of mac's. I mean having almost 9% of the marketplace is huge for them. http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=8
and that is why they have about 10% of all software available for their machines. But hey they look nice and cost more, why not get one.

Wow that game rocks, shame that I have been playing the two more recent version with better gameplay and graphics, oh wait there not for macs.

Listen Apple makes a fine machine, I like them, but not as game systems. If you just playing on the internet, or doing video or graphics work, they rock. But if not, then they are simply over priced.
