Inglourious Basterds & District 9

Inglourious Basterds:

BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!
Such smart dialogue, with the Tarantino pace. About bloody time Tarantino made a WWII pic!
All the actors are on top of their game. Very glad that this film was mainly in German or French. Tarantino pulls no punches with this one; very graphic! I could go on and on about this one...just go out and see it!
Will for sure be adding this to my Blu-Ray collection and will probably see it once more while it is in the theaters.
I would dare to say...the best flick I have seen in '09 thus far!

District 9:

I must premise this review first by saying that I had just got out of seeing Inglourious Basterds when I went into watch this movie.

I have heard so many good things about this film going into it, that I was fairly excited to see it. There is a lot of very good undertones in this movie and they are delivered very well.
The entire film is set up that the viewer is watching a documentary, but as the film pics up pace the viewer is then placed right in the middle of the action. The first half is very slowly paced and I found myself a little bored from time to time. The dialogue was boring and the pace was off (now this is where I think my experience was tainted from just viewing Inglourious Basterds) many times I found myself saying.."Come one, get on with it!"
The third act is where all the fun is, good action and some very neat visuals! The true heart of the film comes out towards the end and only this and the action is what saved this film for me.
I would give it 3 stars for the action, 3.5 for the concept and acting, but the writing and pace in the first half just did not flow well. Thus I give it 2.5 stars out of 5.
Well worth a viewing in the theaters. I would probably watch it once more, but just as a rental; will not be adding this one to my collection.
"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat
you with experience." So always remember this, "Some people are like
slinkies, not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to
your face when you push them down a flight of stairs."
