RSL 1- Chivas USA 0 Playoffs Match 1

Postby f4denz » Sat Nov 01, 2008 9:50 pm

OK, we pulled out a 1-0 victory against a 12 man Chivas squad and other than the horrible officating by Salazar, two things stuck out about the match.

First RSL dominated the play and possession and worked incredibly hard, and two if the RCB or FCB had pulled what the Chivas fans did tonight we would all be banned from the stadium and probably in jail.

Ask yourself why that wasn't the case tonight, there should have been a massive removal of the Chivas fans. I have to also tell you that I found it very funny that they all wore chivas gear, but it wasn't Chivas USA stuff, it was all supporting a team in Mexico. How desperate do you have to be to cheer for a team that you won't even wear the gear of? Sad.

Anyhow I have some great pictures from tonight that I will put up on the http://connect.roguecavaliers.com/ site and up on my blog http://blog.roguecavaliers.com/ some time tomorrow morning. I have to watch the match again to do my blog post.
The RCB is moving to sections 8 & 9 at the new stadium, do you have your 2009 season tickets?

Since I was not at the game could someone explain what the chivas did?
One of the benefits of hanging around a group of soccer supporters is that your taste in beer goes up a lot. It’s like “Sideways” with more swearing. But we digress.

well firsty sadly they were louder then us durring the first half of the game. ;( cry
what the thing they did wrong was they brought garbage bags full of some kind of confetti and dumped them all over the people in the lower bowl seats.
Then they started lighting roman candle and colored smoke bombs in the stands and again droping them onto the people in the lower bowl seats.
as far as i could tell i only saw one of the people up there reprimanded by the security, the rest they let continue to do it.
oddly enough they started doing it at what looked like in celebration after the RSL goal and then started waving a few RSL flags aswell..... odd

Besides the fact the chivas fans were in the wrong team shirts...I have to give them some points for being there and being the loudest fans in the stadium. Not sure what was up with the group, but we sounded DEAD until the goal! The whole south end sounded asleep.
The smoke bombs, confetti, and roman candles were ace! Would love to see more of that; but I agree with Denz. I am sure the RCB/FCB would be banned from the stadium for such antics. I was told to put my horn away a few minutes before the Chivas fans went at it.
Ohhh..and a pathetic turn out for the first playoff match. Not as bad as the Colorado fans last weekend..but it was sad to see so many empty seats for the first ever playoff match. Wonder if raising the ticket prices had to do with that????
