Stadium

Postby rslfutbolfan » Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:00 pm

Well I spent this past weekend in Charleston at a tournament the Charleston Battery was putting on. I wasnt really sure what to expect as i had never been to a USL game before. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the Charleston Battery's stadium. Blackbaud Inc. is a supplier of software specifically designed for charities, schools, universities, and other not-for-profit organizations. Blackbaud Stadium was the first privately funded soccer specific stadium in the country.

Styled after the classic English soccer experience, the stadium seats 5,100 and offers fans an unmatched environment with superb sight-lines, concessions, a children's interactive soccer theme park (including "human foosbal", and even a plush English-styled pub, The Three Lions.

Three Lions Club members and their guests can relax in a traditional English-style pub located on the second floor of Blackbaud Stadium. The pub contains soccer memorabilia from around the world, a cigar-smoking saloon with leather couches, a big screen TV, foosball, pool tables, darts and much more.

The pub features a full-service bar and kitchen with room for up to 300 guests, who can socialize with Battery coaches and players after each home game. In addition, the pub is open for televised sporting events and can also be rented out for special occasions.

I thought it was nice that people that arent press could be standing just on the other side of the barriers behind each goal and that every seat had a good view. The players were also pretty accesible and very friendly.

On top of this, the stadium is also very green, supplying the power for its lighting with solar panels located next to the pitch. They no longer sell bottled water but do supply free filtered water to reduce the garbage output. They also recycle most of the rest of the garbage. All their tshirts they sell come from recycled cotton.

Heres a pic of the solor panels

I will get more pics of the stadium if I can when i go back. I just found it interesting what a team could do....I thought how nice it would be if RSL could do this on a bigger scale...and then I remembered..........Its RSL.

WOW..That is really neat!!! I wish more clubs would follow that path.

Looking forward to seeing more pics.
