While I know coaches can't comment on specific players, dang did I get him in trouble by asking about S. Joseph on last weeks coaches show?

Claude Makelele could become the latest player to move to America. The Chelsea midfielder has just one year left on his Stamford Bridge contract, but could well find his first team opportunitites limited next season, thanks to the huge amount of midfielders the club has. Therefore, he has hinted at a lucrative move to America, telling The Times: "I have not decided where I will play next season. The United States is an option. It wouldn't prevent me from playing for France, ask the coach."

Makelele is a player that could make a huge impact for us, controlling the midfield is what will help our defense and allow our scoring to pick up.


I like this rumor better than the Kellor rumor but still say if Kellor comes in on a regular contract not a DP slot, that picking up Makelele along with Kellor would kick some serious ass.

I still perfer to keep Rimando, young, talented and playing very well.

Makalele would be awesome, can't think of many holding mids better than him.

I seem to remember through the tequilla haze someone talking specifically about this Makalele guy....

Don't know but it can not be worse than Blanco, could it? I fear they do something stupid like picking up Keller (who is a great player but not a needed piece- and not a DP), or grabbing some guy who had a couple good matches at the Gold Cup (Cone). I really hope they go out on a limb and spend some money and at least get in the running to get someone like a Mackelele, which would provide stability in the one position we have most been in trouble at since day one. D-mid.

Or could they, and this is me dreaming big time dreams, knowing that the Pope is going to retire at the end of the season go for the Big Guy? What about taking the number one American defensive player in the world? Oguchi, could be the answer if he were willing to play in the states. He still does not have a job in Europe but I know there are rumours about BIRMINGHAM CITY, ah for a year in the premiership.

Not sure but whatever they do will signal the current state of finances for the club, if they waste the DP slot on Keller or Joseph, then you know that they don't have a lot in the bank and are going on a tight budget. I expect with a new stadium next year and what appears to be a horrible season this year that a big name could really help make the ticket price increase easier to swallow.
