Playoffs 2009

So with Seattle winning tonight we are in!

If Columbus wins or ties New England tomorrow RSL will be the #7 seed and we will face Chicago in the first round of the Playoffs. While if New England wins, we will be the #8 seed and face Columbus.

Also sounds like the match will be on Halloween Night!!


Ok we got a couple little details wrong in posting last night.

First, tickets for RSL’s home Playoff match next week are CURRENTLY on sale to the general public. Head on over to RioTintoStadium.com to snag your tix. Sorry, another correction. We’re having technical issues at the above linked site, so you can either head over to RealSaltLake.com or call our ticketing staff at 801.727.2700 to get your tickets now…

Second, we had stated that RSL would be the #7 overall seed and occupy the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference if Columbus and New England played to a draw today. In that case we were counting ourselves as the #3 seed in the East with New England taking the #4 seed, based on the fact that we win the tiebreak with NE/DC/COL in that case. Well, we missed the fact that wildcard teams moving brackets (in our case moving to the Eastern Conference side of the bracket) cannot be seeded ahead of any team playing in their natural bracket. In other words, we cannot be the #3 seed in the East if New England qualifies.

Therefore, if New England wins or draws with Columbus, we will be the #4 seed in the East and will face the Crew in the first round. If Columbus wins, Colorado would then qualify and occupy the #8 seed with us moving up to the #7.

Hopefully that helps and makes sense to everyone…

I won't be able to make this match. so if someone could hang banners that would be great. We are also out of fog juice.
One of the benefits of hanging around a group of soccer supporters is that your taste in beer goes up a lot. It’s like “Sideways” with more swearing. But we digress.

I will talk with Brent and see what time I can get into the stadium. Anyone else up for helping me set up our section??

Anyone dressing up for this Halloween match??

When we win this match; is anyone thinking about flying out to Columbus for the 2nd match?

Breakfast in the tailgate lot, setup of our section...then head to the pub for the pre-match??????

The only costume stuff I have is airsoft guns and a crowbar, I doubt they'd let me in with that. But I'll help set up. Breakfast sounds like a winner--11:30 train will get us to the pub at noon, so maybe meet down there at 10-10:30? If someone can bring a grill (or better yet a hot plate--I have a power inverter so we could plug a hot plate into someone's car) I'll pick up some bacon and eggs.

You can pick up the correct fog juice at Oasis Stage Werks its by the rio grande cafe. its rosco fog juice.

Errrr..breakfast won't work for me now. Looks like I will be out at the tailgate around noon to 1 and head in to setup. Will not be able to make it down to the pub since I have to setup the section and cant get to the stadium any earlier; guess it all depends how long everyone is planning on staying down at the pub. I still might be able to get down there to join in on the fun.
