Ask For Help

Postby JUDGE DREDD » Mon Apr 28, 2008 10:27 pm

If I was coach for a day I would ask for help from Heretic.

I still vote Heretic for future RSL coach.

FUTURE RSL coach....not replacement coach....FUTURE...as in next season.

What do you guys see RSL having problems with?

I know in the years past it was fitness and drive..and lack of a lot of talent on the pitch.

This year we seem to have both the talent and fitness. Is it the coaching? I think Kreis has one hell of a drive to win and give it his all. But do you see the team not 100% behind Kreis? Lack of respect for a newer younger coach?

inconsistent effort and a lack of flow. At times poor effort and giving up on plays.

The first half against TFC, we played defense and failed to attack the ball, the second half we attacked the ball, controlled posession and went at goal.

Against DC we did that for the first 15 minutes, then we stopped attacking the ball in the midfield and allowed DC to control the pace of the match, their talent level is higher than ours and they took advantage of it. their play to the wide side of the pitch was impressive, we missed seeing how open they were getting and when we went to a more attacking style of play in the second half they countered extemely well and took advantage of the lack of defensive coverage out wide.

When we control the ball and move up the sides in attack, if forces other teams to try to attack up the middle, which allows our midfielders, who are almost all more defensive style players and our middle two in the back to respond quickly and turn the opponents attack into counter attacks.

At least that is what I have seen in several matches. I really have to quit watching them all the time, too damm depressing.

If you take away two questionable pks it was only 2-1 against dc.

Nice breakdown though Denz.

I miss you and hope to see you tomorrow.

See I don't think either PK call was bad, Dema's hand was up and hit the ball in the box, it doesn't appear intentional, so no card, but still a PK. Talley's pointless tackle in the box from behind, when Wingert and Borchers had the angles covered, was well pointless, but still a foul in the box.

I did get a bit upset that the foul against Morales that started on the edge of the box and continued into the box (new MLS rule that this should have been a PK) but wasn't called that way.

I clearly put the last two goals on Jason and Talley, It looked on tape like the lineup changed with Borchers and Olave going to the sides and Talley manning the middle, while Wingert moved up into the midfield (great idea) but DC was killing us all match up the sides and crossing from side to side, so 3 in back was a disaster. keeping 4 in back with Talley moving to the middle of the back line and Borchers moving to replace Joy (minor injury) would have made more sense but, it was easy to see that we left attacking players with way too much room. we did not attack that ball in the midfield and that gave DC time to just pick us to pieces.

One word: Tactics.

Denz broke it down fairly well. Right now RSL doesn't really know how they want to play and seem surprised when a game starts and the opposition does something they didn't expect.

Everyone else read this interview Kreis had in the Deseret News?

http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695276781,00.html

It's a good read and Kreis is spot on. I for one think it's very cool Kreis came out and spoke his mind.

Jason makes some good points but the officals can only get so much blame, they are always bad and almost every team could show examples of bad calls impacting them.

I do still think that there is something more sinister going on, I believe the league has too much resting on Beckham and the Galaxy, In reality they have 3 DP slots are hugely over the salary cap, and in several matches appear to be getting a majority of the calls in their matches. I think you could probably say the same thing about TFC, the league feels indebted to that franchise because of the huge fan support.

I found it entertaining on Monday when the guys on Fox Football Fone In both said they thought RSL would make the playoffs.

I expect that we will see a fine given to Jason for his comments, but I do expect that the match this weekend will be much evenly called.

Good for Jason, I'm glad to see him speak out against the crappy referees. And I do agree that the blame can't be entirely based on that, but I also agree with you Denz. The entire league seems based on the Galaxy so plays going their way for the rest of the season won't surprise me even a little.

I found many replies interesting like wanting to get rid of the offsides rule? bad idea just makes for sloppier play. I did like the idea of reviewing the play if it is definitely influencing the outcome of the game. hockey has the rule and it works out just fine. I agree Kreis needs to focus a little more on the team and not the refs but this definitely needed to be brought up.

Well Kreis is suspended from Saturdays match against Dallas and fined.
