So there is an interesting look at bonds in the new SI
in 1986 he was 6'1" and 185 lbs, in 1996 he was 6'1" and 190lbs,
1997 he grew an inch and was now 6'2" and he gained 16lbs up to 206, then in 2001 he again showed a jump in weight of 18 lbs up to 228, which he maintained until this year when he jumped 10 lbs to 238. For most people growing an inch in height from 21 to 42 is probably a realistic thing, I think the alarming thing is he maintains his wieght very well except for a couple of real "growth" spurts, for a pro athlete to gain 50 lbs while actively playing, is a bit much but hell it could just be he was hanging out at too many tailgate parties in those off seasons.

If it was going to too many tailgates, the weight would be in his gut, not his arms and shoulders.

I have an extra copy of the new Sports Illustrated if anyone wants it.
Just let me know and I will bring it to the next match.
